Biomass Liquefication
(Continued from the Executive Summary page.)
This process is like the process that changes organic materials in nature, using
high pressure and temperature. This technology can use a variety of llignocellulosic feedstock
as well as a wide variety of feedstock from agricultural, municipal and industrial sources. The
output of the process is a petroleum-like bio-crude that can be refined into clean oil, asphalt
additives, adhesives and other energy rich marketable products.
This process has been selected as the potential conversion technology
for the following reasons:
- Products other than energy are produced without materially increasing capital cost.
- Development is based on modular units allowing for expansion.
- The biomass available, including feedlot manure and food processing waste, requires
minimal processing as feedstock.
- The liquefier can be fabricated as a mobile unit.
- Waste heat recovery can be incorporated into the facility adding a marketable product.
- A second marketable product line can be added (wood fiber/plastic composites).
